Recreation ground. About 6 acres comprising of a cricket
pitch and two football pitches.
The Toll Bar ground. About 15 acres which includes mostly
recreational open space with one football pitch, used a
lot by Thorne Rovers F. C
Delves Fishery. A 13 acre site of two fish ponds set in
a very attractive area, well used by people from many locations,
excellently administered on the Councils behalf by the Thorne
and District Angling Association, as too are the Canal fishing
rights.
Thorne Memorial Park. A site of about 6 acres, including
a Remembrance area, play area. There is also a band stand
which is the scene of much appreciated brass band concerts
in the summer and a miniature steam railway Thorne Memorial Park Railway
Peel Hill Motte. A 1.5 acre ancient monument site with adjoining
lands, ready for development.
We lease the Wykegate Road site from D.M.B.C as a recreational
play area.
We lease the Moorends Welfare Ground, 25 acres of recreational
sports area comprising of a League standard football pitch
with grandstand, two bowling greens and pavilion, two rugby
pitches, three football pitches with a large pavilion and
showers and changing rooms, also a cricket pitch with portable
teas pavilion.
Buildings...
The Moorends Community Centre. Multiple uses with seating for about three hundred.
The Bungalow on Church Balk, currently in use by the health authority.
The recently purchased Winning Post Centre. Currently used and under conversion as a multiple use community facility.
