The Council arranges the annual fireworks display on the Coulman Recreational Ground, Thorne and many good causes benefit from our grants.

Our grounds, buildings and Council are serviced and maintained by a dedicated workforce of mostly local people. We employ a Clerk, two full-time administrative staff, five groundsmen, two property maintenance staff and seven caretakers.

Our staff administer the four day market, the Cemeteries, the Allotments and many other duties that are asked of them, including erecting christmas trees and lights in and around the town every year.

Unfortunately our biggest problem in the local community is the scourge of vandalism and wilful damage which accounts for so much of our expenditure. But things ARE being done to try and prevent some of this vandalism within Thorne and Moorends, such as the new CCTV system which operates in the high street and the market place. by Cllr.
