

Richard Walker, 54 years old, married to Lynne, no children, member of an old Thorne family that has been involved in commerce and life of the town for over two hundred years.
Elected to the Town Council in May 2003, Mayor 2003-2004, re-elected Mayor 2004-2005.
Elected to Doncaster MB Council in June 2004. He was very committed to his role as Mayor, and promoted the Town and area in its new found prosperity, very much a hands on person and strives for perfection. Continues to be and has been a Funeral Director in the Town for over 30 years. In his youth spent time in Leisure Management covering such events as arranging and being involved in the Miss World and Miss England competitions, Theatres and the entertainment industry.
Member of Rotary Club and other organisations, with principle responsibility in Rotary for environmental and youth activities both at local and national level for over 25 years. Became involved in raising funds for Leukaemia Research - taking part in a sponsored walk across the Alps into Italy and walks covering the length and breadth of the U. K. with Ian Botham.
Other interests include classical music, local history, equestrian activities and the general welfare of animals.
