Thorne Moorends Town Council has today written to the Boundary Commission asking for Thorne and Moorends to be once again included in a single Constituency. New proposals being put forward as part of a national review of Constituencies would put Moorends in Doncaster North, and Thorne in Don Valley.

Council Leader Joe Blackham said "Thorne and Moorends forms a natural community and it makes no sense that they are split for electoral purposes. The current proposals have clearly been developed by people who don’t understand the local community. I would be happy for the whole area to be included in one of the Doncaster based constituencies. Alternatively they could be included in the Goole based constituency, rather than being linked with communities west of Doncaster that have little in common with Thorne and Moorends."
