Thorne Skatepark is located at Wyke Gate Road Recreation Ground in Thorne.
The concrete skatepark was constructed by specialist contractor Bendcrete
and is built to the same standard as the much praised facility at Devonshire
Green in Sheffield.
The layout comprises eight jumps, see below:
Local young people have been involved in the project from the start and have
already set up the B3 SK8 Club. A keen skater from Thorne Grammar School,
Sean Cubbing said, “I have been to many different skatepark's but
they are a long way away and this one should be great for local kids.”
David Elliott who has been involved in the project since the beginning said, “
We have been trying to get this skatepark for several years, so
please join the club and get involved and I appeal to the minority not
to spoil it for the rest by mindless vandalism.”
